Living in Maryville
What It Is Like to Live in Maryville
Maryville is the Blount County seat and one of the strongest draws for families relocating to East Tennessee. The city school system is well regarded, the downtown has been successfully revitalized, and the Great Smoky Mountains are close enough to be a weekly thing rather than an occasional trip.
It is also genuinely its own city rather than a Knoxville suburb. The employment base - Denso, Clayton, Blount Memorial, and the aluminum operations in Alcoa - means plenty of residents never commute to Knox County at all.
Housing runs the full range, from historic homes near downtown to 1990s and 2000s subdivisions to newer construction on the outskirts, with acreage available toward the foothills.
